Rion Sabean is an artist who plays with gender representation in photography in a way that reverses people's expectations and prompts reflection on what we consider normal for men and women.
Sabean's project is a reflection of femininity and masculinity with a touch of humour. His "Men-Ups" are a series of photographs of men in stereotypical female pin-up poses which emphasize just how ridiculous these poses are. Why is it that we consider contorted, pouty and evidently fake portrayals of helplessness and incompetence attractive in women?
